Sure Start
The Sure Start Pre-school program is designed to serve children of military and DOD civilians employees living overseas. The program is modeled after the Head Start Program in the United States and targets children who will benefit from a comprehensive four component pre-school program. The four major components of the Sure Start Program are Education, Health, Social Services, and Parental Involvement. Sure Start is dedicated to providing a solid foundation for formal education in the early primary grades. This is a six hour per day program to serve 18 students per class. There are Sure Start programs in the following Isles schools: Alconbury Elementary School, Lajes Elementary School, Iceland Elementary School, and Lakenheath Elementary School. Children may be 3 or 4 years old. However, 3 year olds are only accepted into the program if there is an opening and when no 4-year-old is on the waiting list. Four year olds whose sponsor is equivalent to E-4 or below have first priority for enrollment. Transportation may be provided. For more information on the application process, please contact the school in your area.
